Nestled among the mountains of the southern Shan State lies one of Myanmar’s special-interest destinations: serene Inle Lake. The Lake itself can be found in the Southern Shan Hills, with the natural beauty providing stunning panoramic views. With its bamboo-stilt villages, Intha or the residing leg-rowing fishermen, floating vegetable gardens and layered mountains as a backdrop, Inle Lake is one of the most unusual and extraordinary places in the World in which to enjoy a hot air balloon flight which is a must!
Price starts from 340 US $ .. per ticket
In this unique environment, a hot air balloon flight is an adventure that should not be missed. Your day will begin early as you are transported from your hotel. A boat will be at the readiness to ferry you across Inle Lake just as the early morning mist adds surreal vistas during your journey to one of our specially-chosen launch sites, often on the west side of the lake, from where the adventure continues.
Following a comprehensive safety briefing from the experienced UK-licensed Commercial Balloon Pilot, your UK-built balloon will gently lift off, with the pre-dawn mist adding to the magic of your flight. As height is gathered, a wonderful panorama unfolds just right in front of you.
Your flight of around an hour at various heights above the ground and water, will reveal to you the lake, mountains, marshes and stilt-house villages. Driven by the wind, you will see the boats of the lake, motorised canoes transporting visitors along the main canal from Nyaungshwe on a day’s expedition, or Intha fishermen majestically rowing their flat-bottomed skiffs with one leg as they cast their nets.
The wind may take you over one of the markets that rotate around the towns and villages bordering the lake, or perhaps over one of Inle’s famous festivals. You could travel across the bird sanctuary, rich in wildfowl, over teak monasteries, or even to Ywama village with its tall teak stilted houses and its famous floating market. Perhaps then on to the hot springs of Kaung Daing, or to Maing Thauk with its wooden bridge which joins the land-based half of the village with its stilt-house water-based half.
As with all our flights in Myanamar, you will be served fresh tea, coffee and pastries before your flight. After landing, enjoy water, fruit juice, fresh seasonal fruit and a celebratory champagne style chilled sparkling wine in glass flutes whilst the enthusiastic crew pack the balloon away. To commemorate your adventure, you will be presented with a personalised Oriental Ballooning flight certificate signed by the pilot!
If the winds are too light for the balloon to cross the lake, all our Inle pilots are experienced and practised at landing the balloon atop our purpose-built floating balloon platform that follows the balloon all the time. The balloon will then be “sailed” back to shore, adding an extra dimension to your morning’s flight.
An adventure not to be missed in this incredible and unique location!

Mandalay; Founded nearly 200 years ago by King Mindon, the city has the remnants of the old Palace at its centre, surrounded by an extensive moat and palace wall. There is no better way to see Mandalay, than flying with Oriental Ballooning! You will discover hidden sights and treasures of this historic area which can only be seen from the elegant luxury of a balloon basket.
The carefully selected launch sites offer a variety of intriguing views of the Royal city and its temples and people. Northwards, Mandalay Hill towers over the city, to the west flows the wide Irrawaddy with its frenetic river traffic and to the south, the U Bein Bridge appears eerily out of the morning mist.
On the Mandalay flights you will have the unique opportunity to see this expanding city from a totally different perspective, and experience the busy life on the streets. With monks walking in long lines, barefoot on their morning alms round, people flocking to the central market to buy their groceries, and the river bank’s busy life where herds of water buffalo bathe in the stream and riverboats of all shapes and sizes load up their goods and passengers, there is never a minute when life stands still in Mandalay. Our balloons provide the best filming and photographic platform for capturing the pulsating life of this city and to appreciate that Mandalay is one of Myanmar’s most rapidly developing towns.
Equally as famous as Mandalay hill and on the front cover of most guide books to Myanmar is the U Bein Bridge near Amarapura. This is the world’s longest teak footbridge, gently curving 1,300 yards over the Taungthaman lake. Winds permitting, your pilot can navigate the balloon low over the lake, creating mesmerising views and reflections on the calm surface before bringing you back to land nearby.
As with our flights in Bagan, you will of course be served tea, coffee and pastries before your flight and fresh fruit and a celebratory chilled sparkling wine afterwards. Do not miss this outstanding experience!

As the elephant can not live by the food provided by the Camp, they don’t sleep near the Camp. And therefore, they are always released after a day work for the night stay in the jungle. Thus, they go freely on their own, eat, search for food and sleep in the jungle. The amount of food they need is approximately 3 metric tons of leaves, twigs and the mother nature of jungle is the food reserve for them. So, early in the morning before the dawn, the Oo Zies or the master, the trainers of them start their search for their respective Elephants. Being the Overland biggest animal in the world, its strength is steered by the people not only for the battle in the yesteryear, but also in the timber enterprise then and now.
