Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Yangon Arrival Day and Yangon Site-seeing
Upon arrival at airport, after luggage collection, you will be welcome by local tour guide. In the afternoon, visit Kandawgyi Park to relax, Chaukhtetgyi Reclining Buddha image which is the biggest one in Yangon, and evening visit to the most significant pagoda, Shwedagon, which the global scholars describe as One of Wonders In The World. Shwedagon plays very important role in the Old Burmese History not only standing as the holiest structure for the Buddhist all over the world. Enjoy the sunset from nearly 26-century years old Most Glorious Buddhist Shrine.

Day 2. Yangon – Putao (B, L, D)
After breakfast, transfer to Yangon Airport for the flight to Putao. Upon arrival at Putao airport transfer to your guest house. Putao, lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. After a brief fresh up, have a Local lunch and take a walk around Putao for understanding on how your trekking can begin.

Day 3: Putao – Htawadum – Namkham (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we visit attractive Putao market often busy with local ethnic tribes. We then depart through the vast Putao plain on pebbled road to Htawadum with the distance 14 km which takes us about one hour. Here we cross Malikha River by long-tailed boat to visit famous Kanugmulon Pagoda, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king. We proceed walking toward Salundum but turn to Nampandum from Lona suspension bridge. From here we continue walk to Namkham with the distance 5 km which should take us about 3 hours passing through smaller villages such as Salundum and Htrandum etc. Namkham, a large Rawan village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range which in rich with biodiversity of flora and fauna. Name after Hkamti Shan name meaning Golden River has became the centre of cultivation place for the fruits that Father Robert Moss has introduced thus to day famous for its sweet fruits production. We settle in at our guest house and walk around the village.

Day 4: Namkham – Machanbaw – Mulashidi – Putao (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we start walk to Machanbaw with the distance 15 km which should take us about 6 hours through relatively low land terrain with occasionally ups and downs passing through some smaller villages such as Inwaingbaw and Inbubaw. Machanbaw is a small administrative town ex-Putao with beautifully set up colonial style town. We visit so-called “stone dragon” park which should take about 20 minute walk and we cross a suspension bridge spans across Malikha river to Naungkhine where our jeep awaits us and take us to Mulashidi Lisu village with the distance 35 km which should take about one hour to get there. We visit the attractive Lisu settlement and suspension bridge across Mula river. Enjoy beautiful surrounding often back drop with snow-capped mountains in distance. We return back to Putao and check in at your guest house.

Day 5: Putao-Yangon (B)
After breakfast, drive to Putao Airport for the flight back to Yangon. Depending on the arrival time in Yangon, the visits to Sule Pagoda and the downtown area of Old Rangoon with many colonial buildings along with modern skyscrapers, take a walk along the Pansodan Road where you can see many more well-preserved Colonial Buildings including Port Authority and proceed up to Strand Hotel built in 1901. Then drive to Mawtin jetty to see the river-side activities.

Day 6: Yangon Departure (B)
After breakfast, depending on the departure flight time, visits in Yangon can be included; Scott Market which sells many Myanmar Traditional Handicrafts, namely, Pan Sai Myo, 10 kinds of flowers; Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Coppersmith, Stone Carvings, Wood Carvings, Lacquer Wares, and so on (Scott Market is off every Monday!). Visit the Colonial British Built Train Station and can enjoy the train ride on one of City Circling train(one-hour clockwise ride from the station to Insein Station is recommendable!)
Then transfer by car to Yangon International Airport for the flight back.

Day 3: Putao ~Shangaung ~ Warsandan village (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we visit attractive Putao market often fills with colorful ethnic minorities. Later we depart by jeep or truck depending on the group size to upper Shangaung with the distance 17 km which takes us about one hour on a rugged road. Our adventure starts as we get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum with the distance 20 km which takes us about 6 hours trek through Mt. Shangaung at 4468 ft, 1362 meters. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be the testing journey for us as we have to ascend from 1060 meters up to 1362 meters and then descend back to 860 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan tribe village situates by Namro creek.

Day 4: Wasandan village ~ Ziyar village (B,L,D)
Enjoy Breakfast and we leave the village for our today destination at Ziyadum, through relatively flat land with just few of ups and downs. At first we cross Namro creek to Awadum with the distance 7.4 km which takes us about 3 hours. Awadum is mainly inhabited by Lisu and separate in to two by a large paddy field. We continue trek to Ziyadum with the distance 6.4 km which takes us about 2 hours through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum, situate ataltitude of 3440 ft, 1048 meters is the most northwestern and last frontier village in Putao region, mainly resident are Rawan tribes. After a brief fresh up we visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with a blazing snow Mountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek.

Day 5: Ziyar ~ Chaungzone camp ~ Thitpingyi (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we continue trek to Chaungzone with the distance 9.6 km which should take us about 3 hours leaving human inhabitant behind. At first we cross Phangran creek by a suspension bridge and trek through evergreen forests with slightly ups and downs. We cross another suspension bridge spans over Namya creek and continue steep and uphill trek on mule track until we reach to lower Thitpingyi camp, situate at 4800 ft, 1460 meters above sea level with the distance at 3.2 km which should takes us about 2 hours. This will be of our first night of wildness camping.

Day 6: Thitpingyi camp ~ Khan Thauk Myint camp (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we continue trek up hill to upper Thitpingyi camp with the distance 2.5 km which should takes us about one hour along the mule trek. From here we continue trek to Khantautmyit camp, situate 8500 ft, 2575 meters above sea with the distance 4.8 km which should take us about 6 hours. After a few km we trek up on mule trek we get our selves in to the jungle trek goes through deep ups and down with narrow shoulder of a smaller cliff. Nevertheless the trekking route will be the best experience passing through variety of forest type and bird life as we passing through evergreen forest in to hill pine and now into moist upper deciduous forest. We will notice Rhododendron flowers in their blossom and trees having thick moss on them. Khantautmyit is one of the most beautiful spots having large tree with colorful Rhododendron bushes around.

Day 7: Khan Thauk Myint camp ~ Snowline camp (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we continue trek to snow line, elevation approximately 10000 ft, 3050 meters with the distance 6.4 km, which takes us about 3 – 4 hours trek depends on camp site location. Trek route will be a challenging one with narrow line however beautiful pine elevation with moist upper deciduous forest yet fill with Rhododendron make the scenery impressive. There are three different camp sites on snow line and we will find right spot for camping according to the snowfall. Dinner and overnight in tents. Tonight we will have to prepare for cold weather as temperature could be freezing during the night.

Day 8: Snowline ~ Summit ~ Snowline- Khanthaukmyint camp (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we trek to the summit of Mt. Phongun at 11920 ft, 3635 meters. The distance is just little over 3 km, but depending on snow conditions, it could take us anything between 3 to 7 hours to get to the summit. The time we spend on the summit will also depend on weather conditions. If the weather is clear, it is possible to experience spectacular views all round and see as far as the lands of India’s Assam to the west. We return to our camp and continue journey back to Khantautmyit camp.

Day 9: Khanthaukmyint camp ~ Thitpingyi camp (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we relax through the morning admiring the fantastic surrounding. After early lunch we trek back to Thitpingyi camp through the trek winding ups and downs with constantly changing topography, flora and fauna. The trek is relatively easy as we will be mostly on mule trek.

Day 10: Thitpyingyi camp ~ Ziyar village (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we shall be heading for Ziyadum passing Chaungzone camp through nice and easy down hill on mule trek. Once we cross Namya creek by suspension bridge we get in to dense evergreen forest and route goes through winding along Phangran creek with ups and downs. Hot bath and a warm bed by all mean will be of a greatest enjoyment and comfort after several rugged camping nights in the jungle crawling in a tent.
Celebrating dinner over bonfire and enjoy comfortable night.
Day 11: Ziyadum – Kharlan – Wasundum (B,L,D)
We have an easy morning as the return journey today is easy and relatively short. After an early lunch we bid farewell to the locals and head back to our today destination Wasandum crossing Awadum and Kalang crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful evergreen forests.

Day 12: Wasundum – Shangaung – Putao (B,L,D)
Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization. As soon as we start the trek goes challenging trek uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before rapidly downhill to Shangaung where our jeep would meets us and takes us back to Putao. A farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders and porters to commemorate the experience that we’ve shared for the past 10 days in this unique part of the world.

Day 13: Putao- Yangon (B)

Day 3: Putao – Machanbaw – Allanga (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we board on jeep for Machanbaw with the distance 22 km which takes about one hour partly on paved and gravel road. Our adventure start here as we get off the jeep, cross suspension bridge on foot and trek on winding road snakes its way through the mountain ranges to Htikha camp situates near Htikha creek with the distance 14 km which takes about 4 hours. The region is covered with lush vegetation, fast flow streams and waterfalls. We cross 73 meter long suspension bridge and continue trek to our today destination Alangga, situate 1520 ft, 460 meter above sea with the distance 3 km which should take us about one hour. Majority of tribe in this village are of Lisu, mixed with some Rawang and Kachin.

Day 4: Alangga – Htangga (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we start trek to Htangga village with the distance 19 km which should take us about 6 hours passing through the dense forests. This section probably is the most challenging trek of entire journey. Once we cross Namti creek, the road winds steeply upwards with a gorge on the left and a wall of mountains on the right. The higher the altitude, the colder the weather becomes. As we pass through dense forest one usually comes across barking deer, jungle fowls and birds flashing through the woods. Once we cross 55 meters suspension bridge we arrive Htangga situates approx 2200 ft, 670 meters above sea Majority tribe of this village are of Kachin mixed with Lisu.

Day 5: Htangga- Uringga (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we trek on smooth path to Uringga with the distance 15 km which should take us about 5 hours passing through Hprutkha creek.

Day 6: Uringga- Babaw vilage (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we shall be heading for our to day destination, Babaw with the distance 18 km which should take us about 6 hours via the path become downstream as mountain descend gradually. The forest along the way has been pristine and filled with lively with flora and fauna. Once we reach at Gasang creek we cross via a cane bridge to get Babaw, situate at 1750 ft, 520 meters above sea. Ratbaw is divided by Babaw creek that flows into the Gasang creek. We cross the 52 meter bridge to get to Babaw II where we plan to overnight at a guest house situates at confluence of the two creeks. Majority of tribe in this village are of Lisu mixed with Kachin and Rawang.

Day 7: Babaw – Rapbaw – Kwinmaling (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we head towards our today destination at Kwinmaling with the distance 19 km which should take us about 6 hours along Gasang creek with usually with dark-green colour water. We arrive at Magwiza camp, located 12 km from Babaw which is the junction to Nomung and Hkawnglanghpu or Hkawbude. We cross Gasang creek via 113 meter suspension bridge which linking Ratbaw I and II once we pass Dashehtu village. From here we continue trek about 6 km along the smooth gravel road to Kwinmaling with majority Rawang mixed with Kachin and Lisu tribe.

Day 8: Kwinmaling – Nomung village (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we keep trek to our final destination at Nomung, situates at 1640 ft 500 meters above sea and the last frontier town of Myanmar with the distance 6 km which should take us about 3 hours through a 30 meter suspension bridge across the Beekoat creek which leads to the bottom of the mountain. We trek up the shoulder of the steep Beekoat Mountain and descend towards lowland along the creek with green plantations belong to the village. Majority of tribe at this village are of Rawang. We shall have an easy afternoon culturally and socially interaction with the locals. Dinner and overnight at one of the local homes.
Day 9: Nomung – Maza (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we change our direction on west to Maza. Our return journey will be on different route on mule trek rather then along the dirt road. First 6 km we trek along Kasankha stream which should take us about 3 hours and after cross on a suspension bridge we continue trek with the distance at 8 km which should takes us about 4 hours.

Day 10: Maza – Namti Forest Camp (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we turn our direction to south-west towards Namti, situate at 2300 ft, 700 meters above sea with the distance 19 km which should takes at about 6 hours. First 6 km will be up hill towards the shoulder of 6150 ft, 1875 meters Mt. Babulonhtan (locally known as Noi Ngum) by winding route through its top. Along the way you will witness many different species of orchid along with birds. Enjoy a spectacular view of snow capped Mountains in the far north. There will be snow on the top of this mountain during winter months. This is the very place that well-known botanist Frank Kingdon Ward has found many rare species of orchids during his botanic survey in 1920. Some of the rare orchids such as Phiopedilum Wadii or Cypripedium Wardlamon (generally known as black orchid) which has been named after the founder believe can only be seen in Myanmar. Beside black orchid there are many different species of orchids can be found here such as Indrovian, Clanthi, Simpidium, and Simpripedium ect. Noiwinlit and BabuLonhtan valley actually is the depot of botany in northern Myanmar having a huge range of flowers including Rhododendron Dendricoala and many deferent species of Begonias etc.

Day 11: Namhti – Namsabum – Putao (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we keep trek through winding mule trek to Namsabum with the distance 15 km which should take us about 5 hours. Once we climb on Noiwinlit Mt. 4525 ft, 1380 meter we shall see snake like crawling Namti creek down in the bottom of valley from the distance. Once we cross Htikha creek by a suspension bridge the trek goes through up hills and then to downhill all the way to Namsabum. On the way we witness heavily forested jungle, often fill with noisy groups of monkeys. Continue trek to Salundum with the distance of 5 km which should take us about 2 hours on a relatively easy path. Once we cross Malikha river by long tail boat to Htawadum, our jeep awaits us and takes us back to Putao. We plan a farewell dinner with fellow group members, including guides and porters to commemorate the experience that we’ve shared for the past 10 days in this unique part of the world.

Day 12: Putao (B,L,D)

Breakfast and perhaps a last minute shopping at Putao market. Later we transfer to airport for our onward departure flight to conclude this unique experience. Day 5: Ziyadum – Camp I (B,L,D)
Breakfast and set off for camp I, located at 4140 ft, 1260 meters above sea by the side of Phangran creek. We first pass through farmland later in to deep evergreen forest. After a good two hour walking we reach to confluence of Phonyin and Phangran creeks. We then cross Phonyin creek by bridge and keep trekking up and down along Phangran creek until we reached to our today destination camp I, which should take us another two and a half hours.

Day 6: Camp I – Camp II (B.L,D)
Enjoy morning beauty of the nature surrounding while our cook prepare breakfast for us. We set off for today destination camp II, situate at approx 4480 ft, 1366 meters. After some 6 hour trekking through the creek, ups and downs, hiking from the side of the river bank we finally arrive at camp II. As usual quick dry up and relax at camp fire while our team pitches the tents and cook prepare for the night meal.

Day 7: Camp II – Camp III – Stone Cave Camp (B,L,D)
Enjoy another beautiful morning with deep lush evergreen forest with a backdrop of high mountains in the far below the mist. Later we have breakfast and set off for camp III, locate at 5330 ft, 1624 meters. We trek mostly up through the water, side to the valley, back down to the creek etc. We continue our today destination at Stone cave camp locates at 7400 ft, 2255 meters. As we move on the trek become more and more difficult. After a 7 hours challenging trek we finally reach the camp.

Day 8: Stone Cave Camp – Camp IV or Chaung Sone Camp (B,L,D)
If you wake up early to witness the sun rising up from the horizon to make a beautiful painting having thick, dark jungle one side and blazing Snow Mountains on the other. Breakfast and we set off for our today destination camp IV, locate at 9570 ft, 2917 meters. To day journey will be the most challenging one as the route going up steady and the water filled creek now become much smaller, some time disappear in to large boulders and occasional waterfalls. As we go higher the climb becomes deeper and strenuous. After a hard and long day on the rough terrain we finally reach camp IV (locate right bottom of the snow capped mountains).

Day 9: Camp IV – Base camp (B,L,D)
At this point we have to prepare for the challenging trek as from now on we will be on the snow for next a couple of days. We will also have to carry most of our supply especially canned food and warm clothes. Having about two hours trek we reach on the top of a small plateau at elevation 12000 ft, 3650 meters, from where the view is gorgeous with many glaciers around. At this point we will see the peak of Mt. Phangran Razi right ahead of us towering high in the horizon. We continue trek through the slopping down hill and then to steady up. After a steady trek of 3 to 4 hours we will reach at base camp located at 12200 ft, 3720 meters. The so-called base camp has no facility for overnight or making fire but just a small stone cave with space large enough to pitch a couple of tents.
Tonight we have to get by with packed dinner as there is no facility to prepare a warm meal. Overnight in tents.
Day 10: Base Camp – Mt. Phan Gram Summit – Camp IV (B,L,D)
We will try to make the summit at 14200 ft, 4328 meters at first day light to beat the weather change. The route will be steady up on a narrow shoulder of stone based peak. The gusty wind may make this short trek challenging as we will have to stay on relatively narrow cliff. With a bit of luck we could reach to the summit by still early hour in the morning. We try to stay some time on the top, make record of the success ascend as not many others has ever scale this mountain. Later we start descend steady to the base camp and continue back to camp IV. Once we pass thought the small plateau the down trek become easier as we may slide down through the slope. Warm coffee and refreshment should await us as we reach the camp. A sumptuous dinner should plan along with celebrating bonfire.

Day 11: Camp IV – Camp II (B,L,D)
We bit our farewell to mighty one and set off for camp II, passing by camp III. Return journey will be faster although by no mean easier having descended from 2900 to 1400 meters. With much of ups and down and un-countable water cross we finally reach to our today destination at camp II.

Day 12: Camp II – Ziyadum (B,L,D)
Have a relaxing morning, early lunch and we set off for Ziyadum as usual crossing cold water creek, hiking ups and down the valley etc. Once we leave the creek and in to the jungle and after a couple of walk we finally reach Ziya plateau with a smoke from the farm which will be the first message of civilization. Hot bath and a warm bed by all mean will be of a greatest reward. We enjoy comfortable night after spend several nights in harsh condition and crawling in a tent.

Day 13: Ziyadum – Wasundum (B,L,D)
We have an easy morning as the return journey today is easy and relatively short. After an early lunch we bid farewell to the locals and head back to our today destination Wasandum crossing Awadum and Kalang crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful evergreen forests.

Day 14: Wasundum – Shangaung – Putao (B,L,D)
Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization. As soon as we start the trek goes challenging uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before rapidly downhill to Shangaung where our jeep would meets us and takes us back to Putao. This evening we shall celebrate a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters to commemorate the experience that we’ve shared for the past 10 days in this unique part of the world.

Day 15: Putao – Machanbaw – Mulashidi – Putao (B,L,D)
Breakfast and we visit attractive Putao market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Later we leave by jeep to Naungkhine with the distance 22.4 km which should take us about one hour. Here we cross 211 meters long Malikha suspension bridge on foot to Machanbaw, a small administrative town beautifully set up with colonial style. We shall visit this charming town following a visit to so-called “stone dragon” park which should take approx 20 minute walk. We return back to Naungkhine where our jeep awaits us and takes us to Mulashidi Lisu village with the distance 35 km which should take about one hour. Here we visit the attractive Lisu settlement and another suspension bridge across Mula river. We enjoy beautiful surrounding often back-drop with snow-capped mountains in distance. Later we return back to Putao and check in at hotel.

Day 16: Putao – Yangon(B)
Enjoy the colorful market visit in the rising sun with the dense mist. Take a good chance of having local traditional breakfast at the market, such as snacks and noodles, at a small restaurant before your flight back to Yangon. Then, transfer to Putao airport for the flight back to Yangon.

Day 17: Yangon Departure(B)
After breakfast, depending on the departure flight time, visits in Yangon can be included; Scott Market which sells many Myanmar Traditional Handicrafts, namely, Pan Sai Myo, 10 kinds of flowers; Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Coppersmith, Stone Carvings, Wood Carvings, Lacquer Wares, and so on (Scott Market is off every Monday!). Visit the Colonial British Built Train Station and can enjoy the train ride on one of City Circling train(one-hour clockwise ride from the station to Insein Station is recommendable!)
Then transfer by car to Yangon International Airport for the flight back.
